P2P Space Agency

The P2P Space Agency aims to become a global P2P space interest group, like the NSS or the Planetary Society, which, besides lobbying and undertaking small, low-budget missions, has the financial, scientific, engineering and organizational capacity to undertake large missions. Such a P2P World Space Agency could complement and eventually replace national space agencies.

Introduction
Numerous people have formed private space projects. Some groups have formed large and successful project such as the Mars Society, which others have formed small projects. However, large or small, all these projects have a common goals of advancing the exploration and colonisation of space. Such groups could aid each other to work towards such a goal. The P2P Space Agency could form the networking cooperative framework to link all theses private ventures together. The network should consist of autonomous groups, working on their own projects, but as they form part of a network they can also support other groups and receive support from others. Support can come in the form of technical know how or finances or other.
The Network
The network should consist of:
- Autonomous groups working towards their own goals. There exists many such groups today but they do not work together.
- Supporting organisations and projects. These do not have a space application but can contribute to the main activities of the network through, for example, gaining finances.
- Overall directors and coordinators. That maintain the network, communications between organisations and aid cooperation.
Financing
- Membership fees. The NSS and the Planetary Society have a reasonable budget for what they do, coming mainly from individual and corporate donations and membership fees.
- selling value added services to consumers - perhaps a planetary theme park where you can pilot rovers on Mars in a VR environment, something like that, like a space-themed Futuroscope or Epcot Centre on steroids?
- Supporting companies and organisations. These organisations would exist so as to gain finances formation activities of the network. The could carry out commercial activities such as consultancy or farming or production of goods that themselves do not directly support spaced based projects but could supply funding for the network that then goes into each of the forming organisations.
